Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima are 2 very good golf courses situated on the same property shared with an All Inclusive Resort – Robinson Club and are only around 15 minute transfer from Tavira.
Quinta da Ria is a PAR-72 with 18 holes where five lakes were strategically built to create natural course hazards in the game, providing irrigation and maintenance to the natural fauna and flora. Thousands of carob trees, olive and almond trees are contributing to the natural balancing of this course. Right from the start of the round you will be able to recognize the work and design of a world-renowned Golf Course Architect – Rocky Roquemore. The idea of the architect was to create a challenging golf course, yet maintaining the original natural landscape with thousands of ancient olive and carob trees. Over 100 strategically shaped bunkers, as well as undulating greens and artificial lakes were added to complement this layout.
From the first to the eighteenth hole, you will be challenged to use every club in your bag. The biggest challenge is however, the 10th Hole (Signature Hole) with its 422m PAR 4 – Stroke Index 1. Game strategy is required from the tee to the green. We challenge you to cross over the large tree known as “Love Tree” and reach the green in two strokes! The back nine holes takes you back to the magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. The setting is a unique combination of Nature and Golf. Take some time to appreciate the huge variety of wild life that inhabits this area.
Quinta de Cima is the sister course to Quinta da Ria and it offers different and very unique characteristics: wide fairways and well based bunkers, the several lake and streams which calls for a good deal of precision playing. The water hazards of the course and the long fairways emphasise the need for a good club selection, challenging even the most experienced players.
Designed by the well-known American Architect – Rocky Roquemore, Quinta de Cima was conceived as the championship course. The opening PAR 5 is a gentle start but the course will become tougher as the round progresses, with dog-legs to the right and left and undulating greens which are well protected by large sandy bunkers and lakes. There are also several natural creeks running through the course that will also increase its difficulty.
Throughout the course you will find many ancient carob and olive trees which add to the character of the layout. Orange groves and vineyards border many of the fairways making you feel that you are in the middle of an old Portuguese farm. The 16th hole (517 metres – PAR 4) is the Signature Hole of this championship course: long hitters may be able to reach the green in two, but it may also lead to trouble as a large lake is lurking on the right-hand side of the green. The finishing 18th Hole is your last challenge as it requires an accurate drive and a precise approach shot to the green guarded by water.
